Mike did a great job for me. He fixed a roof leak I had for many years that NO ONE else was ever able to fix. Mike is courteous, punctual, and does what he says he will do which is hard to find in a contractor these days. His price is extremely fair, in fact, he did some extras that he never charged for. I would not hesitate to recommend Mike Ferris to anyone. I would definitely give him a 5 star rating!!
I removed the old shingles, prepped and renailed the decking, and covered the roof with synthetic felt. As a do-it-yourselfer, I tend to avoid hiring people for jobs that really need to be done right the first time. But by that point in the project, my elbows ached and I was dreading the prospect of putting down 52 squares of shingles on my roof, and another 11 on my shop. So I asked Mike to roof the house after getting three different quotes. Mike's price was very good, and he came highly recommended by several coworkers (all picky engineers). His assistant roofer was amazingly fast. I helped by carrying shingles (Mike gave me a discount for my services), and the guy could lay shingles faster than I could but open bundles and bring them; never had that happen before. He did an excellent job with two long valleys, interweaving the shingles very nicely. And surprisingly, he was incredibly miserly with the shingles; his waste was almost nothing, even though he was paid by the bundle. Finally, Mike's aluminum flashing around my chimney was a work of art. Given the amount of time and effort he saved me, I then roofed my shop and actually enjoyed that relatively small job. It was definitely money well spent.
Mike Farris roofed by house in Dec 2010. I intended to wait six months before writing a review, but time flies. There has not been a single concern or issue - no leaks, no buckling or bulging shingles, no nothing - and it is now May 2012. The quality of work was high, and the roof looks great.
